With the participation of our University of Kyrenia Psychology Department faculty members, Specialist Psychologist Türkmen Töre and Specialist Psychologist Refia Erosal, the film “We Need to Talk About Kevin” was discussed from the perspectives of psychopathology and personality theories.
During the event, the film was discussed in terms of the individual’s developmental processes, parent-child relationships, and family dynamics. Particularly in the context of personality theories, personality development, the formation of behavioral patterns, and the effects of environmental factors on the individual were examined. In terms of psychopathology, assessments were made on the possible symptoms of mental disorders observed in the film characters, the pathological origins of violent tendencies, and risk factors.
Participants had the opportunity to observe how psychological theories and psychopathological concepts were embodied through film characters. Through the question-and-answer session, students experienced an in-depth learning experience by directing their questions about psychological and clinical contexts to experts.
